» Can someone give me advice on my paper?

I am supposed to choose two works of art and discuss how the artists express his/her idea of vice and virtue through them, and also compare and contrast. I chose Black Snake Moan and Candy. I am also supposed to answer these questions: How have the arts we covered in this course helped to form or examine American values? How do these works express an American voice? The film, Black Snake Moan and the excerpt from Candy both addresses concepts of vice and virtue by illustrating the lives of girls who were victims of rape. In Black Snake Moan, Rae was sexually abused by her step-father as a child. Similarly, Candy was forced to have sex with her uncle in a hospital room. Both girlsâ ™ traumatic experiences lead them to behave in an unfa...... - 2009-07-04

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum but I wanted to ask you all what you think of this internet show called Kunoichi.tv You can also watch the first 10 episodes at google video if you put in the keyword "kunoichi.tv" There's a 30 second commercial there too, but I recommend the version that's only available on the Japanese blog (different background music) To see that one, use the same URL as the "How to update on itunes" clip, but change the last part to docId=7782861658436115822&hl I'm personally a big fan and would like to get the word out. For the record, I'm not affiliated with Kunoichi.tv in any way, so this isn't advertising... i want to get a tattoo on my arm just like this one: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/186/40497... would anyone have a clue on how much this would cost me? please let me know tyThat particular tattoo will cost about $250 dollars or maybe a little higher. U might be able to get it cheaper but not by much. It has alot of detail in it. I like that tattoo. But if I were u go to the tattoo parlor and see how much they would charge u and than u can take it from there. But I would be picky on where u go. make sure the place is clean. A good tattoo artist will show u the sterile needle and a non sterile needle before they even take the sterile needle out. They even take it out right in front of u so u know it's the sterile one. For the past two months I've bought three skin products to use for my skin (i have bad spots/zits). I've used a face wash (with teatree oil) that I use morning and night. I've used a witchhazel and teetree spot wand that I apply regularly throughout the day and I've used a witchhazel and teatree moisturiser for bad skinw hich I put on nightly I bath once a day Yet I've seen no real improvement in my skin The old spots eventually go (and leave dark marks), and new ones appear. It's an endless cycle. Can you suggest any product or treatment? (I'm in the UK so it must be available here). ThanksFirst of all, don't ever use anything with tea tree oil in it. » Sliding table on TS2424?

I'm currently doing some very carefull research prior to purchasing a contractors type table saw. I've decided upon the Powermatic 64A. I keep looking back at this TS2424 though. I quit looking when I realize that creating a sliding table for the left side would need to be less than conventional due to the guide rails being in the way. Lack of t-slots cut in the miter grooves is also a shortcoming. I like the left tilt arbor. It shouldn't be any other way. I can live with the less than average left and right rip capacity and non-TEFC motor. I may still consider this saw if I can get some feedback that would depict a left side sliding table setup for this saw that wasn't completely Rube Goldberg! http://www.ridgid.com/ubb/smile.gif I won...... - 2009-07-04

Any advise would be very much appreciated.i did the same thing when i was younger (14 to be exact). im 18 now and still have scars. they started like yours and faded to white. i treated mine late so the scaring is still pretty visible but over time they will continue to fade. the faster u treat them, the faster they will heal. i used to use Dermablend makeup to cover them (it is used to cover tattoos). » My car was broken into and they took a Christmas gift for my mom. What do I do?

I was at a college basketball game in a major metropolitan area tonight when my car was broken into. They smashed the right rear window and took a combination turntable/radio/CD player I had purchased from a Linens-N-Things going-out-of-business sale yesterday for about $180. I reported the incident to the police. I'm a little nervous about going through my insurance company for the window or the cost of the radio because I was in a costly accident (not my fault, but still) earlier this year. I did buy the radio with a credit card. I'm not concerned about the cost of the window; I wouldn't mind recuperating the cost of the radio. Would my credit card company do something like that? What course of action would ...... - 2009-07-04

» Can i build credit by paying myself loans?

I need to buy a house next year. is it a good idea to take $3000 cash advances from ATMs each month and then deposit the money into my account back again? Can i build credit through this cycle?I agree a lot with what Mary's saying. I'm sorry to say that it's not going to work. Reason being is that you're trying to build credit by trying to treat revolving credit like an installment loan. The interest alone from those advances will eat you alive. A suggestion that you can do is this. Secure a loan by either using your savings account or a CD(certificate of deposit) as collateral. Take the proceeds from the loan and place them in another CD with a term that's shorter than the term of the loan. This way, the money'...... - 2009-07-04

I work in a small office of 8 (including me), can I get away with not inviting my coworkers to my wedding? Althought I'd like to invite my co-workers I can cut out about 16 people between significant others/kids. Is this ok to do? If we get a smaller turnout than expected is it wrong to extend the invite at a later date if things work out to where we could invite them?I work with 20 other people and invited them all but 2. I wonder if they were in any danger? http://jangbokjae.blogspot.com/2008/03/birth-of-tornado.htmlThank you, Saul for submitting that awesome link! Not only does the twister look spectacular, it was cool to see all the people gathered to partake in the splendor. And it looks so close.. right across the bay!The anti-cyclonic rotation evident in the updraft base of the parent thunderstorm is cool, too. It looks like a mesocyclonic vortex, as opposed to the typical tropical pulse-type or linear storm mode waterspout. Those folks might have been in quite a bit of danger....... - 2009-07-04

is this possible? The only way you will be getting HD channels for free is if you have the new Panasonic freesat tv.Otherwise the only way you can get HD channels is by having a Sky HD box or a freesat box or Virgin media HD boxNo. It's not possible to receive HD on a non-HD Ready television set. To watch HD you must be using an HD source. That means that you have to have a SKY HD box, Freesat HD box, Virgin HD box, BT V-box HD or Blu-ray player plugged in. The box will have to be connected to the television by HDMI cable. If you are using any of these then you will already know that they are HD. I'd like to find out how many hours during a workday are spent actually doing work. The context is that of a white-collar, full-time position. Hours spent in any strictly work-related effort, such as non-social client and coworker contact, project analysis, research, self-education and production should be included. » strong cold front pushes thru nation: repeat from year ago this week

This week a rather strong cold front will march through the central and eastern U.S. displacing the subtropical ridge along with the excessive heat that has been plaguing much of the Midwest and the Great Plains, westward to the Rocky Mtn states. The result will be much cooler temps for the afore mentioned regions. This front is quite unseasonable for late July/early August standards in terms of its punch and southward extent. Now, Im curious as to how many of you all remember what the overall ConUS weather was like this time last year. Much of the central and eastern part of the country was in the midst of an above average heat wave though not quite as extreme as this months, temps were reaching upper 90s to triple digits for several wee...... - 2009-07-04

Simon Keeling, BBC weather expert, October 13, 2005 One tornado may be considered a fluke, but another one, within a mile of the previous event and within three months? This is starting to become a habit! People in Moseley could be forgiven for thinking that they are living in the UK's very own tornado alley. Last night's event certainly was nowhere near as severe as the wind that struck on 28th July (which occurred less than a mile away), but it was strong enough to destroy a house roof. So why should Birmingham be so prone to tornadoes and will they happen again? It seems the answer lies in the topography of the city. » Ok Atheists how would you deal with all the evil in the world?

instead of blaming God for not doing anything. What are your answers and if you have any how are you accomplishing thoseI was once a very fundamentalist Christian (Southern Baptist), then a staunch atheistic agnostic, now a member of the Baha'i Faith. It took over a quarter of a century for the whole process, so I am nearly as wishy washy as it may seem. See the links for two of my answers if you wish, but I can still speak from an atheistic viewpoint. There is one and only one approach that is more than a figurative Band-Aid over a gushing wound. That is the approach and system proposed, set up and in use by the Baha'i Faith. » Statins prevent ageing in arteries

Statins prevent ageing in arteries [Posted: Mon 29/09/2008 by Deborah Condon] New research has found that statins – drugs that are used to treat high cholesterol levels – can also prevent the premature ageing of arteries in patients with advanced heart disease. Previous research has shown that patients with severe heart disease have arteries that are biologically up to 40 years older than their real age. This is due to DNA damage. This latest study found that in a person’s artery cells, statins increase the levels of a protein called NBS-1, which can detect DNA damage and accelerate its repair. Cells in the body can only divide a limited number of times. In patients with heart disease, their artery cells divide between seven and 13 t...... - 2009-07-04

Your computer classified my Cellular Telephone number "invalid", when I tried to make a connection with your E-Mail service. I have my cellular number since the year 2000, when "metroPCS" opened for business in the Miami Area. MetroPCS has grown a great deal and is now one of the major Cellular Service Providers. My question is, why continue to call my number "invalid", by asking me for a "valid" number? Perhaps I should call your service invalid and accept only Google, Comcast and AOL... which I am not about to do. MY NUMBER IS: +1-786-234-0692. I got a kitten from a friend two weeks ago who will be 3 months old next week. Her and her litter-mates are tiny for their age and very under weight. My kitten has already improved and grown quite a bit and I've been thinking about taking her back for a visit to compare her to the others and ideally play with them again. Will they remember or accept her?I think it is a tossup. Two years ago, my best friend adopted litter mates -- one boy, one girl. The boy became a Christmas present for her daughter (they bonded perfectly) and the second was a gift for me. About a month later, she took both cats in for their final run of shots. » Hot tub wiring- It says it will run off 240v or 120v, but now my heater doesnt work.?

The used hot tub I purchased was running off of a 4-wire 240v cord. I got it to my house and realized my 240v outolet has only 3 prongs. Does that make it a 120V? It says on the outlet 50 amp 125/250V. I am guessing that means it can be used for either. I hooked it up to my hot tub via the 120v diagram (I left out the 2nd power "red" cord) and it turned on and worked fine... everything worked fine but the heating element. THE MOST IMPORTANT PART! There is a circuit that jumps on and off when i turn the T-stat up and down. That circuit has power running through two sides to the heating element. What do I need to configure to get my heating element to run off of 120V (1 power wire)????I'd go back to a 240 power source it will work much b...... - 2009-07-04

Could be the superheated moisture in the tree exploding and parts of the tree.Isn't it the superheating of the moisture and the sap in the tree that causes the bark of the tree to literally be blown off sometimes? That's my understanding of it.It would have been interesting to see the tree afterwards.its hard to tell if it missed the tree altogether and just hit the fence, but like david said... looks like all...... - 2009-07-04

» New Nikon SB-800 flash. Good News!

Just a little heads up on Nikon flashes. I shoot the 3 Nikon D1 series cameras, the D1X being my workhorse. When I purchased the D1 in 1999, I also bought a SB-28. A decent and powerful flash, but as with all DSLR's of the time, Nikon had a learning curve with digital and TTL flash. Results were 90% good and 10% "iffy". Still, good for the time. With the D1X, came the SB-80DX. I have been very pleased with this flash/body combo. It has performed admirably for almost 4 years, and I very seldom missed a shot, always with very pleasing results. At a Dec. 03rd Christmas party, I dropped this flash while returning my equipment to its bag. The flash hit the floor directly on the flash shoe from a height of about 3 feet. It needless to say is tras...... - 2009-07-04

» Dot Com Boom and Bust Statistics

during the dot com boom, how many internet companies were formed? and how many failed? how many new IPO's were issued? How much money was invested in these companies? during the "bust" how many employees were laid off? How many points did the dow jones fall (or what was the high and low, for boom and bust respectively)?Basically, you have about six different questions here. This creates a dilemma for a researcher who finds solid information on some but not all of your questions. You might be more likely to receive answers if you were to cancel this question and repost it as several separate questions. That way, a researcher who finds the answer to one of your questions could answer that question but still leave the remaining qu...... - 2009-07-04

» Shellac, is it safe for moulds for food?

Hello. I'm doing an art project that will be all edible. For various reasons I'm making a mould to make a dome of chocolate. The mould is made from PVC Foam that I've carved into and will be bending to the shape of a metal bowl. I do not want the chocolate to touch the PVC foam for safety reasons so I want to coat it with a layer of varnish or something to create a barrier between the Chocolate and the PVC foam. my research tells me that Shellac is food safe and dries within 24 hours and it seems to be what I'm looking for. My question is what kind of Shellac should I look for and what should I avoid at all costs? Thank you for the help. Shellac itself if food safe but be careful that it is dilluted with ethanol n...... - 2009-07-04

» Doc Holliday

Well I went to the Buckley Homestead Fall festival this year and was able to catch a couple of decent captures. This place is pretty large, and every fall they put on this festival based on the late 1800's and early 1900's. This capture is of Doc Holliday taking a drink during one of the shoot outs they were performing. C/C welcome, and thanks for looking! http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/ClarkKent0618/Picture-070.jpgstunning!!!!!I think this is my favorite from the festival pictures I've seen you post here. I like the relaxed look. Thanks, all of these were a part of kinda a scavanger hunt for the photo club that I am a member of. We had little disposable cameras, and were given twelve subjects to shoot with them. However not k...... - 2009-07-04

» Is this a common practice in India?

I live in the U.S. I have a friend from India. He says the birthday on all his papers here is a fake birthday and that he's actually several months older than it says on his passport, birth certificate, etc.. He says this was done when he was a child by a friend of his family who works in the Indian government. He said it was to give him an extra year in the work force because of forced retirement at age 55. Is this normal? Do a lot of people change their birthday? (I realize this may be a strange question. I'm just concerned. Thanks) This was an problem here in India, those who born before 1995. After that, most of the institutions asked for Birth Certificate. Now, the childs do not have this problem.lol...in India, anythi...... - 2009-07-04

» 01 civic lockup problem?

I recently rebuilt an 01 civic transmission. Now I have a TCC lockup problem. The torque converter was swapped with a re-man twice now. I have since torn down the tranny again to inspect the valve body and clutches which, I can find no obvious problems. The second accumulator has and extra spring but ran fine for 80000 miles and I have good advice to reinstall it as it has nothing to do with lock up. All of the valves move freely and all of the o rings are new and un damaged. I have electrically tested the tcc solenoid and the ohms are good but when it is hooked up to 12 volts it tries to move the valve but doesn't. I need to know whether the tcc solenoid is normally open or closed, and if it requires hydraulic pressure to assist in va...... - 2009-07-04

» I sold my soul to this kid in a soul binding contract. how do i free myself. loopholes were banned.?

If he's a kid, you're probably bigger than him...and now soulless! Just beat him up, you soulless beating machine. You are God's child, you do not belong to anyone else. Why do I need to be saved? God leaves no doubt about our condition. While we set our standards of right and wrong by society's values, Godâ ™s standard is His own holiness. How do we measure up? "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). It is only fair that God demands holiness; that is how He first created mankind. We have rebelled against Him as a race and as individuals. Our pathway away from God has brought its consequences. "The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23a). The Bible compares sin to a cruel slave master...... - 2009-07-04

» what's the fastest cf card a digital rebel can handle?

the title says it all. i am looking to buy a 1 or 2 gig cf card for my canon digital rebel (not XT). can the camera use the speed of the the newer 133x speed cards at all or is it just able to write up 40x or 80x speed? i wouldn't wnat to buy an ultra fast (and expensive) memory card and not be able to use the full potential. where would i be able to buy a cf card for a reasonable price? thanks michaelyour camera can handle any CF card, regardless of speed. IMO, the only time you'd need to worry about speed is if you shoot long strings (15 or more) of photos and you need good read speed (for transfering files to your pc). My card (50x) isn't that fast, but i never have to worry about my card not being fast enough. You could by a slow...... - 2009-07-04

» Shinto Gods

I was reading this book about Japanese mythology and it said there that there are over 3 million Shinto deities. Now, logic goes that if the number of gods is such a big one, there should be some lists of them, right? No person can memorize so many god names and if such lists wouldn't exist then they would be forgotten. Does anyone know where I can find such a list? I've searched the web, but all I found were lists with a few dozen deities. Now, logic goes that if the number of gods is such a big one, there should be some lists of them, right?I don't think that you're familiar with the concept of the word logic... Just read a book on the most prevalent characters in Shinto mythology, what does having a huge list of names serve you, absolute...... - 2009-07-04

» Knowing full-well that most liberals are Christians, why do conservatives say that liberals hate Christianity?

So they're saying a large percentage of our Christian Americans hate their own religion? Yet, the cons endorse their unsubstantiated rumors as often as they hear them.Maybe because, in general, liberals support the very unchristian practice of infanticide.See the crusade that the ACL(screw)U is waging against Christianity. Read David Limbaugh's book "Persecution". Who do you think the ACLU supports, Democrats or Republicans?I think they hear this stuff on Fox news & from people like Ann Coulter. I have no explanation for why they don't this stuff, when they hear it. It's just hate proproganda.they can't understand the difference between wanting a "seperation of church and state" and "wanting to ban Christianity...... - 2009-07-04
